Aliased Nameservers
Every domain name (yourname.com) on the Internet has at least two "nameservers" assigned to it, which point the domain to a web hosting service. LFC Hosting's business-level clients would use NS1.LOOSEFOOT.COM and NS2.LOOSEFOOT.COM as these nameservers. Aliased nameservers, on the other hand, provide resellers with the ability to completely mask LFC Hosting from their clients, even at the domain registrar level.
LFC provides aliased nameservers in two capacities, whereas competing services typically provide no more than one of the following methods. - LFC Hosting ownes generic nameservers, registered with the name and home address of one of our senior technicians. Resellers are able to, free of charge, use these generic nameservers for their clients’ domains, completely masking LFC Hosting.
- Resellers are able to simply setup two subdomains of their own domain: ns1.yourbusiness.com and ns2.yourbusiness.com and use these as the nameservers for their clients’ domains. Please note, however, that this now requires two dedicated static IP addresses (one for each nameserver host). LFC Hosting offers static IP addresses at a very competitive rate of $5 USD per IP per month.
