ODBC DSNs (Data Source Names) are keywords that link databases to ODBC, the standard way of interacting with databases using programming languages such as ASP, ColdFusion MX 7, etc. LFC Hosting supports Unlimited DSNs free of charge with all of our business-oriented hosting packages (starting at only $9.95 USD/month). Competing hosts typically limit you to a fixed number.

Essentially, one DSN is required for each database that you wish to connect to using ASP, ColdFusion MX 7, SQL Server 2008 or MySQL 5, unless DSN-less connections are used, which are also supported with all of LFC Hosting's plans.

DNSs can be completed managed through the state-of-the-art LFC Control Panel, and all DSNs setup are automatically created as ColdFusion MX 7 DSNs as well through LFC's proprietary automation. This prevents you from having to also set them up in ColdFusion MX 7's own administration panel - a major advantage in hosting your ColdFusion applications with LFC (more info on how this works).
